Actor Chad Lowe once shared heartfelt reflections on fatherhood, describing the experience of raising daughters as one of the greatest privileges of his life.
Lowe’s comments have resurfaced following the announcement by his family that his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, passed away on September 29. The actor is also the father of Mabel Painter, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10, whom he shares with his wife, Kim Painter.
During an appearance on the Still Here Podcast in 2024, the 9-1-1: Lone Star star spoke openly about how becoming a father to daughters had shaped his outlook on life and deepened his understanding of the world around him.
Lowe said he felt fortunate to be a “girl dad,” explaining that raising daughters had given him a unique perspective and a greater appreciation for the experiences women face.
He noted that while parenthood comes with challenges, having three daughters had helped him see social issues through their eyes. According to Lowe, the experience moved his understanding of those issues beyond an intellectual level and made them deeply personal.
The actor also reflected on the evolving role of women in society, expressing optimism about the progress being made toward greater recognition, equality, and opportunity.
Lowe said he believes society has become more aware of the contributions women make in every field and highlighted the importance of empowering future generations of women.
