Honor has officially introduced its new flagship smartphone, the Magic 9 Pro Max, alongside two camera accessories designed to expand its photography capabilities. Unveiled at a launch event on September 28, the device features a refreshed design, powerful camera hardware, and support for G200 and G500 teleconverters.
Refreshed Design and Display
The Magic 9 Pro Max arrives with a redesigned camera layout, moving away from Honor’s traditional centered camera module. The new rectangular camera island sits on the left side of the rear panel and includes a large LED flash, periscope lens, and ARRI branding.
On the front, the smartphone features a 6.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2868 x 1320 pixels. The screen supports advanced brightness technology, reaching up to 10,000 nits, while 4320Hz PWM dimming helps reduce visible flicker for a more comfortable viewing experience. Slim bezels give the device a nearly edge-to-edge appearance.
Honor is offering the phone in Silver, Shadow Black, and Moss Green color options.
Performance and Hardware
Powering the Magic 9 Pro Max is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The company says the chipset is designed to handle demanding tasks, AI-powered features, and high-end gaming while maintaining energy efficiency.
To manage heat during intensive use, the device includes Honor’s upgraded Jade Plate Cooling System 2.0. Connectivity is supported by the company’s C3 RF chip, which is designed to improve network stability in challenging signal conditions.

Large Battery and Improved Audio
The smartphone packs a substantial 8,800mAh battery, offering increased energy density compared to previous models. It supports 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, allowing users to recharge quickly despite the large battery size.
Honor has also upgraded the phone’s audio system with a cinematic-grade microphone designed to improve voice capture and reduce background noise. The setup is complemented by dual speakers for an enhanced multimedia experience.
Camera System Developed With ARRI
Photography is a major focus of the Magic 9 Pro Max. Developed in collaboration with German cinema technology company ARRI, the phone includes advanced imaging features aimed at creators and photography enthusiasts.
The rear camera system is led by a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilization and a large sensor size designed to capture more light. The setup is paired with additional high-resolution lenses, while a 55MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.
Honor’s proprietary H1 imaging chip powers image processing, while support for ARRI Log C3 technology brings cinematic-style color grading and video recording capabilities.
G200 and G500 Teleconverters
One of the standout features announced alongside the smartphone is support for two optional teleconverters.
The G500 Teleconverter extends the camera’s focal length to 500mm, significantly boosting zoom performance and enabling long-distance photography for wildlife, sports, and other faraway subjects.
For users seeking a more portable option, Honor also introduced the G200 Teleconverter. Lightweight and compact, it provides a 200mm focal length and is designed for portraits and close-up photography.
Both accessories are compatible with the Honor Magic 9 and Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, giving users additional flexibility for different shooting scenarios.
Pricing and Availability
The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max is available in multiple storage configurations, with prices in China ranging from 6,499 yuan to 8,499 yuan. The newly announced G200 and G500 teleconverters will also be available for users who want to expand the phone’s photography capabilities.
