Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government managed to recover Rs. 800 billion over the past year through stronger enforcement and improved revenue collection efforts, without introducing any new taxes on the public.
He made these remarks during a meeting with representatives from Pakistan’s business and industrial sectors, where discussions focused on economic reforms, investment opportunities, and strengthening cooperation between the government and the private sector.
According to the prime minister, Pakistan’s long-term economic stability depends on increasing exports, attracting investment, and improving productivity across key industries. He emphasized that export growth should remain a central pillar of the country’s economic strategy.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that the government has been engaging regularly with business leaders to gather feedback on economic policies and reform initiatives. These consultations are intended to address challenges faced by the private sector while creating a more business-friendly environment.
He explained that the reported Rs. 800 billion recovery was achieved through better enforcement measures, enhanced compliance, and more effective use of existing revenue collection systems rather than by imposing additional tax burdens on citizens.
The prime minister also highlighted the importance of close collaboration between the government and the business community, saying that sustainable economic growth requires a strong partnership between both sides.
He expressed confidence that ongoing reforms would help create conditions that encourage business expansion, attract local and foreign investment, and strengthen Pakistan’s export sector.
The government is expected to continue its dialogue with industry stakeholders as it works on policies aimed at boosting economic growth, improving investment flows, and expanding export opportunities.
