24 Schools in Islamabad to Shut Down as Security Measures Intensify Ahead of Planned Protests
Authorities have ordered the temporary closure of 24 educational institutions in Islamabad starting Tuesday as part of expanded security preparations ahead of planned political demonstrations and marches in the capital.
The affected institutions are located in several sectors, including G-6, F-6, and G-7, while a number of schools in Tarnol, Sangjani, Sihala, Narra, and the Rawal Dam area will also remain closed during the security operation.
Officials said that schools and colleges outside the identified locations will continue normal academic activities without interruption.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Police have reportedly sought the closure of 38 more educational institutions to accommodate police personnel being brought in from various districts of Punjab for security duties.
Reports indicate that nearly 15,000 additional police officers will be deployed across Islamabad and Rawalpindi to help maintain law and order and assist with security arrangements during the expected protests.
The decision to use selected educational institutions as temporary accommodation for security personnel is expected to affect students and staff in the designated areas. Authorities have therefore limited the closures to specific institutions while allowing the rest of the city’s education system to function normally.
The move comes as law enforcement agencies increase their presence across the twin cities in anticipation of large public gatherings and demonstrations.
Officials have not yet announced how long the affected institutions will remain closed, and details regarding reopening schedules are expected to be shared later.
