Pakistan Successfully Tests Extended-Range Fatah-4 Missile
Pakistan has successfully carried out a test launch of the extended-range version of its indigenously developed Fatah-4 missile, according to a statement released by the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Tuesday.
The military said the latest version of the missile is equipped with advanced avionics and modern navigation systems, enabling it to strike targets at longer distances with a high degree of accuracy. The test was conducted to assess the missile's operational capabilities as well as several upgraded components designed to improve precision and survivability.
According to ISPR, the launch achieved all planned objectives and successfully validated various technical features incorporated into the weapon system. The missile is intended to enhance Pakistan's conventional defence capabilities by providing greater range and effectiveness on the battlefield.
Senior officers of the Pakistan Army, along with scientists and engineers involved in the missile's development, witnessed the test launch. Military officials described the event as another important step in strengthening the country's indigenous defence technology.
Following the successful trial, Pakistan's president, prime minister, and armed forces leadership congratulated the teams involved in the project. They praised the dedication, expertise, and hard work of the scientists, engineers, and technical staff who contributed to the development of the missile system.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also welcomed the achievement, calling it a major success for Pakistan's defence sector. He commended the country's scientists and engineers for their efforts and said the accomplishment reflects Pakistan's growing technological capabilities in defence development.
Naqvi added that the successful test demonstrates the strength of Pakistan's defence preparedness and highlights the nation's commitment to maintaining a strong and reliable security framework.
The latest test follows an earlier training launch of the Fatah-4 missile conducted by the Pakistan Army in September 2025, when the system successfully demonstrated a range of 750 kilometres.
Defence experts note that the Fatah-4 is designed to fly at low altitudes and follow terrain contours, making it more difficult for enemy missile defence systems to detect and intercept. These capabilities are intended to improve the missile's accuracy, effectiveness, and survivability in operational environments.
With the successful test of the upgraded version, Pakistan continues to advance its indigenous missile programme and strengthen its conventional deterrence capabilities.
