Taylor Swift Replaces Her Own No. 1 Song as “Patient Zero” Climbs to the Top of iTunes

Taylor Swift has achieved another chart milestone, this time by replacing one of her own songs at the top of the U.S. iTunes chart. Her newly released track “Patient Zero” has taken the No. 1 position, pushing her previous chart-topper “The Fate of Ophelia” down the rankings.

The achievement means Swift now occupies the rare position of replacing herself at the top of the chart, further highlighting the strong response to her latest music release.

The new song is part of “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” an expanded version of her recent project that features four additional tracks. Alongside “Patient Zero,” the release includes “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon.”

Swift first announced “Patient Zero” earlier this week and confirmed its release date for September 25. She also revealed that the song’s music video is scheduled to debut during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, adding to the excitement surrounding the track.

Current iTunes rankings show “Patient Zero” in first place, followed by “The Fate of Ophelia,” while other artists trail behind the two Swift songs.

Fans quickly celebrated the achievement on social media, with many pointing out that Swift had once again managed to replace herself at No. 1. The chart performance has become another talking point in the rollout of her latest music project.

With multiple new songs now available and a highly anticipated music video on the way, Swift continues to dominate music headlines and maintain a strong presence on digital music charts.
