Punjab has become the first province in Pakistan to launch an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub designed to strengthen security monitoring and intelligence-sharing efforts across the province.
The AI Hub was officially inaugurated on Saturday, September 5, 2026, alongside the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (PIFTAC). According to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the initiative is aimed at enhancing the government's ability to detect potential threats at an early stage and improve coordination among security and law enforcement agencies.
The AI-powered platform will assist authorities in tracking emerging security concerns and issuing digital alerts to district coordination committees. By providing timely information, the system is expected to help officials assess risks more effectively and take preventive measures before situations escalate.
Speaking about the project, the chief minister said that PIFTAC would play an important role in improving response times to terrorism-related incidents and other security challenges. She emphasized that the primary objective of the new mechanism is to prevent threats before they occur rather than responding after an incident has taken place.
Maryam Nawaz also commended the efforts of the Punjab Police, Special Branch, and other law enforcement institutions involved in the initiative. She noted that the project represents a significant step forward in integrating modern technology with intelligence operations to enhance public safety and strengthen security across the province.
