LAHORE: Former Member of the National Assembly and senior Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf has passed away at the age of 90, according to his family.
Family members said Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf remained actively involved in Pakistan’s political landscape for many years and was regarded as a close associate of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
During his political career, he was elected to the National Assembly on a PML-N ticket on four separate occasions. In addition to his parliamentary role, he served as Parliamentary Secretary for Education and was also associated with the Pakistan Bar Council.
Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf held several important positions throughout his public life. He served as Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice and later as Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, contributing to both legislative and legal affairs in the country.
His passing has been met with sadness among political colleagues, legal professionals, and those who worked alongside him over the years.
According to family sources, funeral prayers for the late politician will be offered at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, at Shuhada Mosque in Farid Town.
