Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced that it intercepted and seized what it described as an American unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes.
According to Iranian officials, the vessel was operating in waters close to the Strait when it was taken into custody. Iranian authorities characterized the device as a sophisticated US-made underwater system.
